The Miller Art Museum is set to host a literary event featuring Aaron Boyd, an award-winning illustrator and author. Scheduled for February 28, 2025, the event will begin with a book reading at 4:00 PM, followed by an artist reception from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Attendees can meet Boyd and view original illustrations from his latest book at the museum's exhibition titled "Giving Good: The Art of Illustration by Aaron Boyd." The event is free and open to the public.
Boyd, based in Milwaukee, has illustrated over 40 children's books known for their storytelling and cultural representation. His latest work, "Giving Good," explores a father-son relationship amid parental separation challenges. Despite difficulties, the father consistently provides love and support to his son.
"I do believe Giving Good has a purpose. To give what it says, 'Give Good.' We can all do this," Boyd stated.
The exhibition includes more than 40 original illustrations and offers an interactive installation showcasing Boyd's artistic process. Techniques include mixed media such as watercolor, collaged paper, textiles, oil pastels, and found objects.
Boyd's accolades include recognition from the International Literacy Association and the Children’s Africana Book Award. His pop-up book "Storybook Year" was inducted into the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
The exhibition receives financial backing from Barb and Mike Madden, MMG Foundation, Ellsworth and Carla Peterson Charitable Foundation, Townsend Foundation, Wisconsin Arts Board with state funds, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
