A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town Of Freedom in Wisconsin on November 7, 2024. The request was made by NE Wisconsin News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The request specifically asked for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. As part of our commitment to transparency and public accountability, we at NE Wisconsin News believe that access to such records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities.
We emphasized in our request that as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. This is in line with our role in disseminating information and providing transparency to the public.
