FOIA Request Sent to Menominee County Regarding Public Records on October 7, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Menominee County in Wisconsin by NE Wisconsin News on October 7, 2024. The request is part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

We requested a list of FOIA logs that were sent to the county from January 1, 2024, until October 7, 2024. The specific fields we asked for include the requester's name and organization, the content and date of the request, the date when the request was completed, and the status of the FOIA.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We believe that as a media professional engaged in disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver under Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.

This move is part of our broader effort at NE Wisconsin News to ensure transparency and accountability in local government affairs through rigorous reporting and investigative journalism.
