FOIA Request to Marinette County Regarding Access to FOIA Logs from January to October 2024 on October 7, 2024.

In a bid to uphold transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at NE Wisconsin News have sent a request for records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to Marinette County. The request was made on October 7, 2024.

The requested records are the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) logs sent to Marinette County from January 1, 2024, through October 7, 2024. We are specifically interested in obtaining information about the requester's name and organization, the content of their request, the date of their request and its completion date, as well as the status of their FOIA request.

As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to these public records is crucial for us. It allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency for the public.

We believe that as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await Marinette County's response regarding this matter and remain committed to serving our readers with up-to-date and accurate information about local government affairs.
