Bellin Health issued the following announcement on Dec. 9
Retired Bellin Health President and CEO George Kerwin has joined the health system’s board of directors, stepping into a new role after stepping down from Bellin in 2018.
Kerwin had a long and successful career at Bellin Health, joining the organization in 1971 and working his way up from Director of Housekeeping and Admissions to President and CEO. He served in the top role from 1992 until his retirement, leading Bellin through decades of unparalleled growth including development of the region’s premier heart and vascular program, creation of the Bellin Health Foundation, the addition of Bellin Psychiatric Center, Oconto Hospital & Medical Center, Bellin FastCare and much more.
Through Kerwin’s leadership, Bellin Health became an original member of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI) Quality Management Network and has remained active in the IHI Leadership Alliance, working with this renowned and innovative organization to improve the health of individuals and populations worldwide. Kerwin was an IHI Senior Fellow, part of a distinguished group of experienced and influential leaders that play a key role in strategic development and planning for the organization.
“George Kerwin brings nearly five decades of Bellin Health experience and leadership to our board, and we are so grateful that he has returned to serve the health system in this way,” said Bellin Health President & CEO Chris Woleske. “George is a leader, a mentor and a friend, and I know he will bring invaluable perspective and insight to an already robust Bellin Health board of directors.”
Kerwin’s term officially begins next month. At that time, Bellin also will welcome Nature’s Way Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Nicole Polarek to its board.
