A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Sister Bay, Wisconsin, on November 7, 2024. The request, issued by NE Wisconsin News, seeks a list of new voters who registered on Election Day.

The FOIA request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., with a preference for an electronic format response. As a news organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NE Wisconsin News believe access to public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities.

These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

The request specifically asks for a list of new registrations – voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. This data will contribute significantly to our ongoing coverage of local elections and voter participation rates.

We remain open for any questions or clarifications needed regarding this request. As always, our goal is to serve the public by ensuring they have access to important information about their communities and their government.
