FOIA Request to Town of Gibraltar Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.

As a part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government affairs, we at NE Wisconsin News have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Town of Gibraltar. The request, dated November 7, 2024, seeks information about new voter registrations that occurred on Election Day.

In accordance with the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., we have asked for a list of voters who registered on November 5, 2024. Our aim is to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on this matter.

As a media organization dedicated to gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We await a response from the Town of Gibraltar and will continue our efforts in bringing transparency and accountability to local governmental affairs.
