FOIA Request Sent to Town of Florence Regarding Same Day Registered Voters on November 7, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Florence, Wisconsin, regarding the same day registered voters on November 7, 2024. The request was made by NE Wisconsin News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The specific records requested under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., were for a list of new registrations voters that registered to vote on November 5, 2024. This request is in line with our commitment at NE Wisconsin News to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We have therefore also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We are currently awaiting a response from the Town of Florence and will continue to keep our readers updated on this matter.
